Step in another’s shoes in East Village

Join us for a unique community video project that will inspire empathy and connection! We will have a private video booth where you will write from one of the prompts on the table such as, "Describe a time in your life you felt scared?", "Describe a personal secret you are holding onto and want to release?", "What is something you are proud of doing or accomplishing?", "What is something you overcame?". You will drop it in the box (where no one will know it is yours) and then you will take someone else's to read to the camera.

These readings allow you to step into someone else's experience and strengthen our empathy as a community. The videos will be turned into a full video at the end that will be aired on our social media channels.

Storytelling with Gayathri Shukla, author of Landed
In-Person Event | Pre-registration Required
Social Innovation Hub, Unit #290, 3553 31 Street NW, Calgary
One of the most special things but also challenging things about being human, is that we are all so different. Differences can lead to tension and conflict, but when we empathize with each other, we can look past differences and even see the beauty in differences. Storytelling is a powerful tool to create more empathy. This book reading is a chance to experience the world through the eyes of an immigrant woman, and explore how we can harness storytelling as a tool to build bridges across differences.

Gay History Walk

Calgary's 2SLGBTQIA+ history is long and storied but largely invisible within the city's public realm.

In August and September 2017 almost 400 stories were shared about what spaces and places matter to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. These stories are now in an online story map where you can take yourself on an in-person or online tour or places and stories of people within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
